Fred and I arrived at the Mauna Kea visitor centre around noon.
The visitors centre is at 9200 feet, the observatories are at the top of the mountain at over 13000 feet.
There are lots of displays, along with a gift shop here.
On the way down we stopped for some pictures before we went through the clouds. That’s Maura Loa in the background, it’s one of the 5 main mountains on the island.
We stopped in Waikoloa Village for a burrito at the little Mexican place.
