Around 3:00 we went for a walk down toward the Fairmont Hotel, about 8 minutes away and then along the beach to the Mauna Lani Bay Hotel then back home. With no stops this is about an hour walk. It has stopped raining but is pretty breezy; things will dry out quickly.
At the Fairmont Hotel their coconut tree had been assembled today and was being painted.
Along the beach Kathy is taking a turtle picture.
We looked at the newly decorated trees at the Mauna Lani Bay Hotel, sort of like the Empress Hotel trees.
We happened to arrive at the shops at Mauna Lani at Happy Hour and decided this would be a good place to stop for a drink and some appys.
Tommy Bahamas is a great place to stop at this time of day. Here’s it is Dec. 1 and their fish is in the spirit.
We carried on home around 5:00 and it had cleared up on Mauna Kea to reveal a big snowfall. We have been here from November to April and this is the most snow we have ever seen on the mountain. We saw quite a few people taking pictures as the sun was shining on the mountain, including local folks.
Zoomed in on the observatories. They are at a little over 13,00 ft. My guess is most of this snow will be gone pretty soon.
Looking out the other way from the lanai we watched the sunset. Pretty nice!
In case any one is wondering, today’s beer was Big Eye IPA from Ballast Point Brewery in San Diego. It was a good one.
